You need to leave it where it currently is. Oppossums carry a great deal of disease including, but not limited to rabies. Call a wildlife rehab center or your local DNR (Department of natural resources) officer.How do you take care of an opossum?if it's sick?
Take it to a veterinary hospital ASAP. Those are wild animals and you have no idea what you are getting into.
you need to call the local game/wildlife office. they will know what vets will be able to handle the needs of a wild animal. or also call animal control. they would know whom to send out to help.

there are a lot of ppl answering to kill this poor animal...humans are so cruel, thanks for reminding me why i respect my animals more than ppl!!!!
It's not up to you-You need a specialist who knows how to manage wild animals.
I know what Granny, Jed, Jethro, and Elly May would do with him...
Shoot it, and then bury it. It could have rabies and who knows what else.
