An old southern expression, ';well guess an opossum just ran over my grave';. Do you know what this is ?

Or what its refers to? Something happens to you just for a second and we always say this for no telling why .. but I have always heard this and still say this. Do you know? If you are true southern I bet ya do. LOL But down here we spell is just like its said.. Possum..LOLAn old southern expression, ';well guess an opossum just ran over my grave';. Do you know what this is ?
i think it's when you get the shivers and you aren't coldAn old southern expression, ';well guess an opossum just ran over my grave';. Do you know what this is ?
There are a lot of versions if this saying that describes that involuntary shudder that you get from time to time.

A cow, a possum, a rabbit, a goose, a ghost, a cat...

Walked over, ran over, trotted over ....

Depends on what part of the country you come from.
In the UK we say a goose stepped over our graves (don't know why) but it's said when you have one of those crazy shivery moments. Probably the same thing...
possums play dead and i guess it means that you are not dead yet
