well, first of all; their must have been a hugely urgent reason for you to handle him in the first place.
if he is more than 6 months old and you have handled him since he was very young then he will not survive in the wild, this will result in you caring for him until he passes.
if he is under 6 months then you should put him in a nearby woods and watch him for an hour to see what he does, if he runs and hides then he should be just fine :)
