What makes a better pet for a child with ADD, a Opossum, a Ferret or a Weasel?

ferret o wait no a.................................yeah a ferretWhat makes a better pet for a child with ADD, a Opossum, a Ferret or a Weasel?
A ferret, no doubt, but FYI, it's very closely related to the weasel. You also might want to consider an African Grey parrot. What makes a better pet for a child with ADD, a Opossum, a Ferret or a Weasel?
I hate to contradict the questioner and his public, but I have researched just this same issue and the true answer is......

....the sloth.
Get a skunk! They can be domesticated, have their scent removed, and they are cute as hell! Plus, imagine the kid taking the skunk for a walk...they are going to make instant friends.
I would actually suggest none of the above. Opossums and weasels don't make good pets for children as they really aren't domesticated and shouldn't be.

I myself own two ferrets and let me tell you they require A LOT of up keep. They have to have a special diet and required litter training depending on where they come from and not to mention the unending curiosity. Ferrets are cute and funny, but they would be like giving a child with ADD a toddler with ADD to play with. Ferret may seem tough, but they can be hurt easily, so if the child plays too roughly with them then you could have a hefty vet bill in your future. If the ferret feels threatened by a child's hyper play one good bite/nip and you could have a hospital bill in your future.

If you insist on one of the three go with the ferret as they are domesticated and can be very loving, but excercise EXTREME caution and monitor the child and ferret at play at ALL times!!!!

A wiser decision may be to look into dogs. There are dogs of all shapes and sizes. Some breeds of dogs are very tolerant with child of all natures and demeanors. Speak with a local vet about what they would suggest.
Ferret, it'll keep them busy for hours, it worked with my little sister.
Anything, as long as its stuffed. Live animals are not so good for ADD or ADHD.
Ferrets are busy, curious, and energetic creatures. Tehy get onto everything and live to play. They do require alot of care. They need to go in their cage at night because they will make a mess if left out. They need as much care as a kitten, they can be trained to go in litterboxes and their bedding needs to be changed regularly. You need to clip their nails occasionally and excersize them daily. Also, they are social creatures and you should get them in pairs. However, they will keep you ADD child busy with their constant activity much more than the sedentary opossum or sometimes naughty weasel. Make sure you get to handle the ferrets before you purchase them. Some will nip and petshops may sell ill ones. Here's a site for you for more info so I don't make this answer too long. Good luck!
I haven't met a placid ferret yet and I have four of them. Opossums and weasels are not commonly kept as pets anyhow.

There is more to factor in than your kid having ADD. How old is the child? And how much time are YOU willing to invest in the care of the animal when the child doesn't want to anymore. Ferrets can be time consuming, labor intensive and costly little critters(most ferrets will encounter at least one of the big ferret diseases in their later years which are often treatable but expensive, i.e. insulinoma, adrenal disease aso.).,They provide a lot of fun. They are a bit smelly even under the best of circumstances and some have the tendency to bite or nip. They can be potty trained, but sometimes still don't quite make it and you'll have to be prepared to clean up after them. They need lots of out-of-the-cage time and interaction with their hooman beans. I enjoy mine tremendously, but I don't recommend them for everyone.
i would say a monkey but that wasn't the choice :b

i think a ferret
ferrets because they're always playful and are really fun!
Depending on the child's age and their amount of time to spend with the pet. All the pets you listed need special care, and when left unattended can be destructive or injured...did we put the ferret away can be really BAD !!! Also, when they get tired of the pet, you will be the one to care and play with it. Ever consider a good family dog ??? Much more compatible with everyone, can be hours of enjoyment in and outdoors, and when you are too busy this summer to clean a cage or hunt down a missing in the house pet you'll really wish you had a dog. Another good pet for EVERYONE is a bird. Parakeets and Cockateils tame quite easily and can be trained to talk .. males learn better your local pet store can tell you the sex of the bird, and they don't take a lot of daily care. Hope this helps you make a wise choice, a pet is not a toy- nor is it a substitute for one on one time with your child....Good Luck!
a Ferret
I hope you're kidding. Opossums are wild, I actually had 2 several years ago. They got out, climbed on the curtains %26amp; hissed at me til I got someone to get them out. Weasels are also wild %26amp; I don't even know where you'd get one. As for a ferret, even descented ones smell and are high maintenence. With a child with ADD in your house, do you have time to care for a pet? I think all your choices are bad. There are websites that you can go to that have a compatibility test to see what pet is best for your family. Please find it. Good luck!
i'd have to say a ferret get when its young and have it fixed it will be very placid
If the child has ADD he's going to get bored with any pet
