You can find an estimate of the prices in Fur Fish %26amp; Game. According to the December 2008 issue, they're expecting:

- coyote - $5-$40 depending on the quality.

- squirrel - $1-$1.50 tops.

- possum - $3-$4 tops.

- raccoon - $6-$40, with $6-$10 for coat grade furs. How much can you get coyote coon squirrel and opossum furs for?
There isn't much of a market for squirrel and opossum. If you live in a northern state where winter temperatures drop down below freezing and weather makes fur bearers grow fur, your coyote and raccoon will be worth considerably more than pelts from southern states critters. The next point to consider is the condition of the animal. Was it trapped or shot? Is it skinned out (properly) or is it still whole? Is there damage to the pelt from the trap or bullet holes or skinning errors? What color is it? Is it a large male, medium female, or small pup? Does it have any unusual colors or markings that make it exceptional compared to the normal furs of that kind? ALL of these factors come into play to determine the price of your pelts. Only the buyer himself can tell you accurately what they are worth to him. I would find a buyer in your area...usually in the yellow pages of your telephone directory....and ask him what the going rates are in your neck of the woods. If it sounds good to you and worth your time, go for it. As a teenager, I made much of my spending money trapping and hunting. It was a great experience and taught me a lot. I hope you discover the same pleasures and excitement that I did. Good luck.
