Is something wrong with an opossum if it comes out in the daytime?

I have seen the same opossum two days in a row, walking along my ivy-covered fence. Since opossums are nocturnal, does this mean there is something wrong with the opossum? If so, what should I do to help it?Is something wrong with an opossum if it comes out in the daytime?
If the opossum is not behaving erratically, then you should just leave it alone. There is a small chance that the opossum may have rabies, but opossums are surprisingly resistant to many diseases. Keep an eye on it and if it has an established routine, then I would not worry. If it starts behaving strange, then call animal control to dispose of it. For your safety, do not approach it yourself. Is something wrong with an opossum if it comes out in the daytime?

Sometimes they do come out in daylight hours, especially the younger ones. Watch for any other unusual behavior, as ill animals will exhibit unusual behavior (the concern it's rabies is always there). Consider trapping and disposing of it, or call local animal control.
I don't think it is too much cause for concern. It isn't unusual for nocturnal animals to come out during daylight hours if they want a drink or something like that. It may be trying to find a new place to live. If it continues to do this then you should ring your vet and just ask if there is something wrong with the opossum and whether or not you should take it to see them
You can do three things....

1. Leave it alone.

2. Call Animal Control.

3. Dispose of it.
