How do you get an opossum out of your attic?

Well there are alot of them up there a whole nest of babies and we hear them up in the walls every night. How do we get them out of there? We tried to set a trap because at first we thought it was a rat, but the next day the banana was gone but the opossum didn't get in the trap. What should i do?How do you get an opossum out of your attic?
Call a Nuisance Wildlife Control Professional. It may cost money, but you won't get hurt, the animals will be legally relocated, and all babies will be kept with the mother.

If you trap them yourself, you may need a permit from the DNR in order to legally relocate the animals. And if you have no experience with possum, you can be badly injured. Also, your presence could cause the mother to run off, leaving the babies behind. How do you get an opossum out of your attic?
Animal control would be my first choice. If you want to do it yourself well then make the environment bad for them. A box of mothballs spread around will drive the mother out who will remove all the babies at the same time. Then go up, patch the hole they got in by, and pick up the mothballs.

If you try to live trap her you may miss one of the young ones. So either get her to move them out or get professional help. But also ask what happens to the possums if you go with a removal service. Possums are good for the environment when they're outdoors--they should not be killed.
go in the attic during the day wear some leather gloves pick mamma up by the tail ,put her in a sack get babies do the same drive away from town release done
Since opossums can be vicious and can inflict significant wounds your best choice would be to call a local pest or animal control service.

Aside from that, I would advise to go to a farmer's hardware or hunting supply store that has non kill traps preferably the kind that the opossum will have to go inside to access food thus causing the door to snap shut behind him preventing escape.

Follow the directions carefully that may come with it bait it then set it in the attic. Canned cat or dog food is a great bait to ensure capture.

Make sure to check it at least twice daily and once you catch the opossum handle the cage wearing thick leather gloves to protect your hands from being clawed or bitten through the cage.

Hope this helps.
